About Us

The Poor Boys Golf Club (PBGC) is a private golf club without real estate. However, for a fraction of the cost of a country club membership, the PBGC provides most of the same benefits, including fraternity, competetion, weekly play, tournaments and social functions. In other words, the PBGC is a country club without the clubhouse; but, also without the initiation fee, the assessments or the quarterly food minimums.

The PBGC is a member club of the United States Golf Association (USGA), Maryland State Golf Association (MSGA) and GolfNet; and, is authorized to issue an official USGA Handicap index.

Most of the PBGC membership lives and works in and around Towson, MD. The PBGC has golf events available to members 1-2 times per week during the MSGA season, which runs from March 15th through November 15th. We schedule between 50 and 60 rounds per year at public and semi-private golf clubs within a 1 hour drive of Towson, MD.

The PBGC also sponsors a season-long competition similar to the PGA's Fedex Cup, which we refer to as the Boone's Farm Cup (BFC). Each official PBGC golf event offers a chance for members to win BFC Points in the season-long race. At the end of each season, we hold a 4-week BFC Playoff - the winner of which is crowned that year's PBGC Boone's Farm Cup Champion.
